The Route Optimization View

Once you have selected the orders to ship and are ready to optimize them, click the Route Orders button. Review the routing parameters screen as well as the fleet logistics & availability section where you can mark trucks as active/inactive, edit trucks, or add new trucks. Once ready to be finalized in the last step, click the Optimize Routes button.

The routes will then be displayed in the Optimized Route view so you can review routes, change the stop order, delete a stop, change trucks, and assign manifests.

Route Tiles

The Route Tiles on the left allow you to review route details, and by clicking the route tile, the route will also display on the map. Tiles on the left match the color of the route on the map, and you can select individual or multiple routes to display. The order the stops have been routed is also displayed on the map in numerical order.

Routes are still available for edits to change, delete, or run new optimizations. Run multiple optimizations as needed, but typically, they are already optimized for maximum efficiency and to minimize costs for all orders. The system will default to displaying the routes tab, but you can also click on the orders tab to see more details.

The route tile on the left specifies how many orders for each route, the weight, time to ship, pallets, etc. The Truck Dropdown shows fleet details for available trucks and common carriers. You can also delete the route, or reoptimize it after any changes.

Like the order screen, the load tracker in the top left displays the totals for the routes created. You can also add a new route manually by clicking on the +Route button in the top left.

GANTT chart (route schedule)

The GANTT chart (route schedule) below the map shows the schedule of the delivery/pickup stops to form the route. Colored warehouse tiles specify a pickup, either from the warehouse in the morning, or other pickups from customers throughout the day.

White tiles on the chart specify a delivery stop and are placed at the estimated time of arrival. The left edge of the white delivery tile shows when the driver is expected to arrive, with the right edge of the tile showing when they are expected to be leaving.

The tiles on the chart can be easily rescheduled by dragging and dropping them in front of other stops on the schedule.

If creating a new manual route, just drag and drop stops from one route into another. Changes made in the chart are displayed in the load tracker in the top left. The Headlight Solutions optimizer maximizes savings down to the penny, which you can see as you make changes that affect the route, which adds up to big savings.
